Layout-100 mile bike ride

Andrew went on his first 100 mile bike ride on August 8. He went by himself, but find a small group of guys to ride with. He rode as far as Dryden with them, then took off on his own because he wanted to go faster. He started out at Marvin Park in Owego, rode to Maine (NY) past Greenwood Park onto Rte 38 into Dryden, then to Candor, then over Straits Corners Road back to Owego (made me tired just typing it!).

He loved it and said he felt like he could go even further!

Layout-Stove

Last week one of the questions at ACOT was what kind of stove do you have; so I decided to make a layout about my stove as it is quite unique. This stove was in our house when we moved in back in 1982; it belonged to my husband's grandmother who owned the house before us. We think it was made between 1930-1940. It is a propane, gas, coal stove. We have to light a match to use the burners, oven and broiler. The door on the right is the stove, the door on the left is the coal burner (the photo on the far left shows the door to the coal burner open). At one time I thought it would be nice to get a new stove until I saw ours on an antique show and decided that this one is perfect for us and our house. This stove is older than me and I am sure it will still be working long after I'm gone.

Connie Cook always has fun crops and one of them was a Tacky Tourist Crop held at her house. Only her Mom and me showed up; but the 3 of us had a blast! Hate to admit it, but I am the tacky looking one wearing Mickey Mouse ears and khaki shorts along with the ever popular touristy fanny pack!

Andrew won the IPF World Championship in France. Unfortunately he didn't get to stand in 1st place on the podium as the lifter that was originally called the champion failed the drug test.

This is a mini album I created for my Mom for Mother's Day this year. I got the plastic pages from Walmart; they are usually for badges or nametags, but make a great mini album! It is small enough to easily carry in a pocketbook!

This is dedicated to my Dad who passed away on Good Friday 2009. Dad threw me up on my pony, Jill, when I was 4 years old starting a lifetime passion for horses for me.

It was fitting that this song by Brooks & Dunn and Reba came out this year.

In the bottom pix I am the girl in front and this was my pony, Jill.

The photos are very old and are scanned in, so the quality isn't that great.

I crocheted this 5 foot tall Incredible Hulk for my nephew years ago. The Hulk was definitely one of the most unique things I have ever crocheted-certainly the biggest!

Layout-horse eyes

Just got done with a layout for the 52 week challenge at ACOT.

This is for the 52 week challenge-make your own chipboard. I made a chipboard moon. I layered a piece of yellow paper over 2 circle pieces of chipboard that I cut out myself by hand. I then used orange chalk to create shadows on the moon and then attached a diecut bat to the moon and drew in his eyes with a green marker.

I have lots of pix of horses with fly masks and glowing eyes so I couldn't resist making a layout about them! Silly layout, but I love it!

Wish you could see the glowing eyes better in this photo-they look scary in person!

The journaling reads:

Horses may look like gentle, beautiful creatures,
but be afraid, be very afraid!

Some horses do not go out
during the day
without covering their eyes.

Oh, they pretend that the masks
are protecting them from flies,
but we know better than that!

With eyes glowing menacingly at night,
be careful not to let them take a bite!

Layout-Mid Ohio 2009

I am on a roll! Here is a layout from Mid-Ohio. Used lots of pix to show everything that goes on during a race weekend. My guys love racing, me I love to read when they aren't on the track so it works out well for all of us.

Some fun things we did this year were go to Steak n Shake, a scrapbook store and A Bag of Nails restaurant, along with several trips to Walmart-oh and Cracker Barrel!

I am in love with Steak n Shake; they have this strawberry and vanilla shake combo that is so delicious!! Wish we had one near us! Begged the guys to take me to a scrapbook store in the area and they did; I got to spend a lot of time there. It was so fun seeing products in person (normally see them online!). Had a fried Snickers bar at Bag of Nails; glad I had it as it was yummy, but probably would try something different next time. Had French onion soup and a cheeseburger to0-man, was I full. Got the pork BBQ at Cracker Barrel-it was really good!! I love going to Walmart in Ohio as they sell liquor right in the store! We can only get it in actual liquor stores here.

Oh, and Andrew came in 2nd Place in both his races! Great job since he only races about once a year right now. Mark's kart blew up in practice, so he didn't race at all. That's racing!

Just completed a layout for the July sketch challenge at ACOT. My son has been on a bike almost as soon as he could walk. He just bought a road bike this summer and puts more miles on it than I do with my car! Love seeing the pix of him when he was young and now!

I rode Liza in the indoor arena tonight. She was very laid back, definitely needs a lot of work on turns though. She seems to want to go where she wants instead of where I want her to go. We'll be working on that! Luckily she wasn't acting like this photo when I was riding her!

My Big Redneck Wedding scene

I love coming up with crazy scenes; so how could I not come up with My Big Redneck Wedding as that show was so wacky that it just cried out a for a scene! The wishing well is their beer cooler and of course the bride and groom go off into the sunset on a horse and 4-wheeler with their trusty old dog.

Just completed this layout for A Cherry On Top challenge. It is a new photo of me and 2 old ones of my son. I love cherries as you can tell! My favorites are chocolate covered cherries-yummy! I eat maraschino cherries straight from the jar and when the cherries are gone I pour the juice over a bowl of ice cream and stir until it is melted-sinfully delightful!!
